MAC computers are comming more and more in our company and instead of going for an JAMF solution that is fully MAC supported, our Microsoft team want macĀ“s to be managed by SCCM(as according to them this is the one and only tool, as are not fan of adding a third party tool in for management of mac). The Configuration Manager Console Extension extends the SCCM console enabling you to manage Mac OS X devices. To install the Parallels Configuration Manager Console Extension the pre-requisites are simple, you must install on a computer that has the admin console installed. Configuration Manager Console Extensions: Set of dynamic libraries that extend Configuration Manager Console providing a graphical user interface enabling you to manage OS X. Component must be installed on the computer where the Configuration Manager console is installed. This plugin can be installed on any server or user desktop that is. I am going to detail some of the scenarios on managing Mac Computers with System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager. Here is a screen shot of the Mac Client: The Mac Client can be configured using Client Agents Settings: Enrollment (Default Client Settings), Computer Policy, Compliance Settings.

Hey everyone, I am pretty new to Casper and the community and thought why not break the ice by asking a general question. What is the advantage of using Casper Suite over SCCM? Our company currently uses SCCM to manage our Windows users and they are stating that it can do everything Casper can do for Mac as well. Database client for mac.
I did some research and came across http://blogs.technet.com/b/pauljones/archive/2013/06/02/managing-mac-os-x-with-system-center-2012-configuration-manager.aspx . https://kensite655.weebly.com/email-client-for-mac-read-tracking.html. I know there are differences I am just wondering if someone could point out some of the major advantages to Casper over SCCM.

Just got the information many of us dread, a new very higher up person is pushing hard asking about 'testing' some Apple devices, likely iPad Pros in this case.

I was asked what SCCM can do currently in regards to Apple products with very little information of what they want to do with them. Currently I really have no idea as I haven't looked into this in years. The answer then was essentially that if you were serious about it you had to get a 3rd party product because while you could make it work in SCCM it was so much extra work and effort you'd spend more time fighting with the few Apple devices then the entire rest of your environment combined. https://kensite655.weebly.com/remote-desktop-connection-client-103-for-mac.html.

Does anyone have a good link or quick rundown from personal experience of what SCCM can do in regards to managing those devices, if anything? What is a reasonable expectation of getting working without a huge additional investement in time? The initial push is apparently for staff/faculty use and we're an education environment if that matters. We have no other Apple hardware or infrastructure of any kind and no one in IT that has experience managing them.
